TPS40195 calculation of RILIM

Hi,

how is RILIM in SwitcherPro calculated ?

If I change the MOSFETs the RILIM changes from 365 to 22.6k. The RDSon of the new MOSFETs are slighty higher(2mOhm to 7mOhm) but the resistor value changes about factor 60. If I try to verify the RILIM value according to the datasheet I never got the values SwitcherPro gets.

  • Hi Andreas,

The value of RILIM is calculated the same way as datasheet formula:

    RILIM(min) = RDSON(max) * ISCP(min) - VILIMMOSFET(min) / ILIM(min)

The issue in SwitcherPro is that the min value of VILIMMOSFET is (-20). (As per DS page 4) But in SwitcherPro, it is positive 20.

    We will correct this ASAP.

Thank you for reporting this and helping us improve the quality of our software.
