About bom cost of webench

Hi,

I opened the power seminar towards the customer.

I received the two questions and one request.

Q1.What is the source of BOM COST of WEBENCH?

Q2.Discontinued products have been removed from the parts list of WEBENCH?

Request:I am glad when  added a FPGA(Processror)sequence to power architect.

Best regards,

Watanabe

  • Watanabe-san,

Q1: The BOM cost comes from the 1000 piece part pricing from Digikey's catalog of products. Please note that these cost values are only used for comparison purposes inside the tool and should NOT be used for budgeting purposes. We do not have any insight into a customer's pricing from distributors or providers, so we recommend using the values for comparing the designs. If one design is $3 and another $6, think the second design is twice as much as the first design. You can also use percentage increase of the cost based on your optimization (more efficiency for 10% more cost, or half the size for 10% increase, and so on). This will allow you to make choices that are best for your particular design.

Q2: Most of the time, discontinued products are removed from WEBENCH®. Since the Digikey catalog availability is updated several times a day, we normally will have updated availability information. The TI products are also updated and removed if they are made unavailable.

As for the request: I am not sure what the request is. I am happy that your customer liked placing a FPGA in the Power Architect. It is a very useful tool and has a lot of information in it. If there is more to the request, please let us know.

  • Brooks-san,

    I appriciate for quick reply.
I apologize that it has taken so long to get back to you.

I understand about BOM cost of the reference source.

    Regarding my customer request,
Although the FPGA/Prosessor sequence in Power architect can be set,
user need to set the sequence .
We appreciate if you could set the sequence in advance.

    Best regards,
    Watanabe
  • Watanabe-san,

It is my understand that if an FPGA or Processor has sequencing requirements and the device is supported in the Power Architect, the sequencing has already been built into the tool. If this is not the case, please let me know which FPGA/Processor was being used so I can verify that the correct information is present for it.
