Webench "Design cannot be created with this device." (or create any other design with any other device.)

Hi, folks,

I'm having fundamental problems with Webench.  I've tried to create several straight-forward designs (24V to 3.3V switcher, 24V to 10V/180 mA LED driver).  Each time Webench offers dozens of "solutions", but when I click the "Open Design" button Webench always reports, "Design cannot be created with this device."  If I click the green button to see why "other devices could not be found" a series of obviously-incorrect device choices appears in a table (voltage too high, current too high).  The part I selected with the "Open Design" button does not appear in the table, and Webench offers no explanation for the failure.

So Webench keeps suggesting solutions, and then rejects them.

Perhaps there's a pop-up blocker problem, but I have made more attempts than I care to admit attempting to fix such issues on three browsers.

The problem is probably operator error, but I'm out of ideas and need help.

Suggestions?

- Bill

  • Hi Bill,

Can you provide the complete specification that you entered? For example, in the 24V to 3.3V switcher example you mentioned, what current did you use? Also, what part did you click on ("Open Design") when it failed?

Also, could you try clearing your cache and if that does not work, try it on a different browser?

    Thanks,
  • Hi, Nikhil,

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my request.

The problem somehow was resolved at around 6:00 AM my time.  I had been up all night, and went to sleep, just now seeing your comment.

The issue had nothing to do with Webench electrical input parameters, which I entered identically each time.  Some things occurred between the last failure and the first success:

    1) Used Apple mac to log onto Webench.  Same error.

    2) Used iPhone to log into Webench.  Limited functionality.

    3) Used PC to log into iPhone app, and checked the "Remember me" option.

Perhaps one of the many unfathomable computer pop-up/antivirus/anti-adware interferences was responsible.  I had disabled all of these I found, but made no change to any of these AFTER the last failure.

6:00 AM my time is 8:00 AM Texas time.  Perhaps someone returned to work after the weekend and corrected a computer snafu with my account.

A big time waster, but all is going well now.

Thanks again.  I will close this case.
