TPS54623: Does web bench consider the light load efficiency mode of this part?

Auto-Compensate works as long as load is 2A or more, but If I reduce to my target 1A, auto-compensate fails.

  • Patrick,

WEBENCH does not consider the light-load efficiency mode efficiency for the TPS54623, we assume continuous current mode throughout the Iout range. Can you please specify the Vin, Vout, Iout, Ta, Fsw, knob value for your design? Also, when you are using Auto-compensation, what is the value for the design operating values, for example, the phase margin, crossover frequency, etc that you are trying to design for?

    Thanks,

  • Amod,

Thanks for your response. Using TPS54320 for the 5V @ 1A (95% eff) rail and TPS54620 for the 1V @ 2A (88% eff)/1.8V @ 3A (91% eff)/3.3V @ 2A (94% eff) rails auto comp works. VIN is 9-15V. All inductors are coilcraft SER1360 or SER 1390. I am pushing efficiency as my small portable ultrasound will have no fan.

One question: I am going to external sync all 4 parts to 200KHz. On first device, I have 243K between 200KHz and ground feeding the RT pin.
Is it acceptable to feed other 3 devices with same? Will RT pin 1 impedance require adjusting R value since I am feeding 4 parts RT pin(s)?

I would like to send you this schematic page for comments if you can provide an email. I am visiting TI Richardson (ultrasound group) on Sept 20th if you are based at that location. -- Patrick
