Quick question on TPS40304 design

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS40304

Design : 4561043/298 TPS40304DRCR

TPS40304DRCR 4.0V-6.0V to 1.10V @ 20.0A

In the design above, two FETs for each high/low sides were selected. Is this really necessary even to be on the safe side? I checked the datasheet and the evm of TPS40304 both using only one FET for high and low sides.

Is there a way to set only single FET in Webench? Thanks,

  • Hi FZ37,
I agree, there isn't any need for going for a dual FET option. As you are aware that we fixed our FET selection routine for Irms current ratings, there are ample options now with Single FET configuration. I updated the BOM calculator to use Single FET configuration for this device and it should go out with the next release(hopefully by tomorrow). Meanwhile, here's the design report for M1 and M2 with each ones QTY=1.
