Problem with WEBENCH Designer

Hi,

I was showing to my colleague how to use WEBENCH designer.

So Selected an LM2678-ADJ in order to set-up a 7V output supply.

But we noticed if the input voltage is above 25V it gives-up with an error " The design cannot be created"!

If the max voltage is 25V or lower it works OK.

Am i missing something?

Is there an undocumented limitation?

In our example we selected Vin Min20V, Vin Max26, Vout 7V and Iout 1A.

Any comment?

  • Hi,

Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention.  I have looked into this issue and found that WEBENCH® is preventing the design (Vin=20V-26V, Vout=7V, Iout=1A) from being created due to the calculated phase margin of the design being lower than the allowable limit in WEBENCH.

I am currently working on a fix so that your design will be able to create in WEBENCH and will select components that will provide enough phase margin.  I will let you know when this is released so that you can create the design in WEBENCH for yourself.

If you need a design sooner, I can create a design for you and send you the WEBENCH design report to look at until the update has been released.  Let me know if this is something you would like.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know.
