TIDA-00355, 400W battery charger : Purpose of external MCU

Hi,

I have a question about TIDA-00355. The TIDA has an external MCU in it's block diagram. The FB pin from MCU directly control the RT current of UCC25600.  But I have no idea the purpose of the MCU because the design realize CC/CV control with TL103 and it wouldn't require MCU control. Is the MCU a idea or option for user who would like to control by digital solution?
