TINA/Spice/TPS55340: the mean of macro

Part Number: TPS55340
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Dear all,

We simulated TPS55340 TINA-TI Transient Reference Design (slvma31).

What is this macro meaning of capacitance?

What is this red line meaning?

The simulation result will not change unless I change these values.

Best regards,

  • Takao-san,

    It is a macro/sub-circuit representation for capacitor. For defining a capacitor, important requirements are capacitance value, it's parasitic resistance in series and initial charge on it at the start of simulation. These factors are being defined in the underline portion:

    C => Capacitance Value

    ESR => Parasitic series resistance

    X => Number of capacitors in parallel where 1 means single capacitor

    IC => Initial charge/voltage on the capacitor at the start of simulation

    Hope this clarifies your doubt.

    Thanks!!

    Best Regards,

  • Mahavir-san,

    Thank you for your reply, but I am confused.

    The simulation result don't change when I changed the macro values that I attached previous post (red line).

    However, the simulation result change when I changed following values in macro parameter editor.

    What is these differences?

    Thank you for your support.

    Best regards,

  • Takao-san,

    The macro internal portion is where you define these parameters and properties section is where you modify them as per your schematic requirement. In other words, you are parsing these parameters from the window shown by you and that will be the final value that TINA will use while simulating the capacitor macro. This makes it easy for TINA user to simply right click on the component, select properties and change the parameters, rather than entering the macro every time some change is required.

    Thanks!!
