Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models
Hi Team –
Customer downloaded the Tina simulation files (webench_design_4264875_3.tsc) from Webench, and opened it with Tina.
We came across the error message “Format ‘%s’ invalid or incompatible with argument” when trying to use the Oscilloscope virtual function in simulation.
We went ahead and installed the latest TINA model, ran the software as ADMIN, but the problem persists.
Any ideas on what could be causing this?
Thanks,
Dan
webench_design_4884201_16.tscHi Nikhil-
Thanks for the quick response. Please see the attached file.
Dan,
I did not see the error with the .TSC provided. I did notice that the operating point could not be found when first running a transient simulation, so I changed it to Zero initial conditions and the circuit ran correctly. Once I verified this, I used the Oscilloscope and found it worked properly as well.
May I ask why the customer is using the scope? This is a very slow simulation and I do not see any advantage to using the scope over using the display window. The scope is useful for fast, repeating signals
I am assuming that the scope had an issue with the operating point not being found. I am using TINA-TI for this simulation.
Thanks for Your suggestion and it works, but I found there are still some problems like following:
Figure 1 shows, the virtual oscilloscope sometimes paused at starting, there is no waveform appearing in the virtual display window.
Figure 2 shows, the virtual signal analyzer doesn’t work either with the same error in whenever I run this function.
I think the root cause still should be found out, I will collect my questions in my using Tina-Ti and feedback to you.
Chen,
Again, I need to know why you are using the virtual oscilloscope and the virtual signal analyzer for this kind of a simulation.
Thanks for any additional information you can provide.
Hi Dan
The error on the signal analyzer is showed as the figure above.
Thanks,
Chen
