WEBENCH® Tools: TPS55340RTET

I have an error on webbench with TPS55340RTET.

Vin : 3V-5V

Vout : 24V, 1.5A

Airtemp : 30'C.

I try to use this for plasma igniter.

Please let me know how I can use web bench for my condition.

  • from the input/output application, the maximum input current at VIN=3V is 12A, which is higher than the input current limit of TPS55340. the input peak current of TPS55340 limit is 6.6A.

    Then, I suppose 25V, 0.7A might be possible.

    Could you let me know for the webbench for 25V, 0.7A?

  • Hi Vincent,

    How flexible are you with the output current and is there a reason why you haven't considered a controller like the LM3478. With the controller you can pick your MOSFET that can tolerate higher junction temperatures. For the TPS55340, even with the 24V output @ 0.7A output current, the current will still be too high for the internal MOSFET switch assuming 85% efficiency range. This doesn't included the inductor current ripples that can affect this situation.


    Internal MOSFET current limit = 6.6A

    n = Pout / Pin

    85% = 24V(0.7A) / (3V *6.6A)
