Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools
Dear Sirs.
I use WEBENCH® Designer for the part LM5022 for design an isolated power supply with input voltage range 10 – 60 V, output voltage 12 V and max. output current 1.5 A. WEBENCH® Designer offers me two commercially available transformers: Wurth Elektronik 749196521 and Coiltronics VPH5-0083-R. I'm very puzzled because both these transformers are very weak for this applications as it is seems to me.
Wurth Elektronik 749196521 has Saturation Current base only 1.73 A if all windings are driven. In our case only 3 of 6 windings are driven with heavy load. It is possible to assume that Saturation Current equals 3.46 A I think. But I see Primary Irms 13.2 Amp in Property the part T1 that much more however!
The same situation is with Coiltronics VPH5-0083-R. Coiltronics VPH5-0083-R has Saturation Current base only 1.96 A and I_RMS(BASE) 1.7 A if all windings are driven. In our case only 3 of 6 windings are driven with heavy load. It is possible to assume that Saturation Current equals 3.92 A and I_ RMS(BASE) 3.4 A. But I see Primary Irms = 11.7 Amp in Property the part T1 that much more however!
Can you explain me these contradictions.
Thank you in advance.
Dear Kirill,
