WEBENCH® Tools/TPS55340: TPS55340

Part Number: TPS55340

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

A question about Web Bench and the use of this part. I appear to only get to have the WQFM package. There doesn't seem to be a way to switch the package to the HTSSOP package.  That appears to be the only part in the design I cant alter the package.

I can build a prototype with the HTSSOP package in my shop by hand. A little afraid of the WQFM in terms of prototyping by hand.

Seems like both packages are available.

Just a note on this Forum entry form. The E2E box tells you not to put the part number in the box if you already filled in the Part number box. If you try and submit the Forum entry it stops and points to the E2E box as not being complete. I had to type in the part number a second time to get it to post.  Seems like it has a bug.

  • Hi Robert,

We currently only have the WQFN package enabled in WEBENCH. You can use the WEBENCH design for your prototyping but use the HTSSOP package instead of the WQFN - make sure to use the correct pin connection in your design based on the package information provided in the datasheet. The ThetaJA of the HTSSOP package is similar to WQFN - so most of the electrical parameters might remain similar between the packages for this device. Expect some difference in thermal performance depending on the package and your layout.

  • Hi Gerold,

I finally made this design. It seemed to work but I never checked to see if it would source 500ma until yesterday. Just getting into looking at it on a scope. I built ten and they all seem to loose regulation at about 150ma output current. I have not load tested all ten but I have 5 that all hold the 15v until the load gets just above the 150ma level. The output starts to compress. Its a tiny little circuit. Any advice on where to look. I used the values that Webbench provided.  I have additional cap in both the input and the output. I put an extra 22uf on the input. I alos have 3 4.7uf caps on the output instead of the 10uf recommented.

    Thanks
