phase margin of LMR16010

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMR16010

I have questions about LMR16010.

Question 1.

- Please tell me the Loop Response and Phase margin under the following conditions.

     Vin=12V

     Vout=5.5V

     Iout=90mA

Question 2.

- Should phase margin be measured in PWM mode?

  and Can we get the data of phase margin in Sleep mode?

   Are there problems that we measure phase margin in sleep mode?

Best regards,

Takahiro Nishizawa

  • The sleep-mode can improve efficiency by reducing switching and gate drive losses, so some pulses will be skipped in sleep-mode. The frequency will be changed , the bode plot is no meaning. If you want to measure the loop respond in the light load, you need to keep the circuit in the CCM.

  • Nishizawa-san,

    Are your customer worried about the stability in PFM mode ?
    The device in PFM mode or light mode or burst mode is like hysteretic control where bode plot(control scheme is nonlinear by definition) is not possible .
    There are two ways to ensure the stability :
    1. Ensure that the Output voltage is in regulation .
    2. Do the load transient(PFM to PWM load) to see if the design is stable .
