Hi All,

Can anybody tell me how to measure efficiency on TINA-TI

I need to measure TPS53513's efficiency vs Output Current onTINA-TI, but I couldn't do it.

Because, It simulation's IN/OUT waveform is very noisey.So I couldn't measure it.

generally you cannot use TINA or pspice models to estimate efficiency. The models do not accurately model the input current. Your best option is to use Webench for efficiency estimates.

Hi John,

Thank you for replying.

I think that WEBENCH's efficiency simulation cannot be changed schematic and parameter.So I need efficiency mesurement method on TINA-TI.

If you know other efficiency simulation method of changeable schematic and parameter, Could you inform me of its method?

You should be able to change some of the parameters and components in Webench. What exactly are you trying to change?

Yes, I know that I had be able to change some of the parameters and shcematic. But its changes cannot apply to Charts of efficiency , it's only applyed to ELECTRICAL SIMULATIONS. I need to apply the changes to Charts of Efficiency.

I think th e efficiency does change. Can you post an example that shows your issue?

I'm sorry for the delay in my reply.

Specifically, WEBENCH circuit differ from TPS53513EVM-587's circuit. So I changed to the same circuit as EVM in WEBENCH.
At that time, I don't know how to see Charts of efficiency.

Kazuki-san,
You can change the components to match the EVM by going to the BOM table and doing "Select Alternate Parts" on the components that you want changed. In the select Alternate Parts window, you can select from the list of alternate components available. This should update your efficiency values and you should be able to see the new efficiency in the charts section with the selected components.

Thank you for your information. I had changed parameter of Parts, And I had simulated efficiency. Furthermore, I want to simulate efficiency on different circuit. For example, EVM includes Snubber circuit but WEBNENCH Circuit don't include it.

Hi Kazuki-san,

We currently dont have a way to give you efficiency values for additional circuits being added to the schematic. As an alternative, you could find the power loss value in the Operating Values table for the existing schematic. Then calculate the losses from the snubber alone and it to the loss value in the table to get the losses with the additional circuit. This is just a work around and will be only an approximate value but you can use it to estimate the efficiency.
