TINA/Spice/TPS92692-Q1: Transient Model Import Issues

I'm having trouble importing the transient model from ti.com into TINA-TI. I've run into this a few times before but got around by exporting a WE-BENCH design; but, I haven't found the TPS92692 on WE-BENCH.

I can download and extract the transient model. I can point the 'New Macro Wizard' to the .lib file. The wizard shows several subcircuit models in the file. I tell it to use TPS92692-Q1_TRANS. I select 'Auto generate shape' on the next screen. But, when I hit 'Next' it throws this error.

What am I missing?

Paul,

This issues arises due to the model being encrypted in PSpice, so TINA-TI will not know how to decrypt it. You will need the unencrypted model for this which you can get using the procedure here: e2e.ti.com/.../3122.importing-ti-s-spice-models-into-tools-other-than-pspice-and-tina-ti

It will need an NDA though.

If TINA-TI doesn't understand the encryption, what does?

Paul,

Only the software encrypting a model will be able to recognize the encryption and be able to decrypt it. Other tools would not know the decryption key for this. Here is some more documentation on this: .

We will send you the TINA-TI TSM file shortly, but it would just be the PSpice unencrypted model imported into TINA-TI. It will not be tested out completely in TINA-TI, but you could use this as a starting point.

Paul,

It just so happens that I had created a TINA-TI macro for this device previously, but I did not test the macro. You can use the TINA macro with the Insert--> Macro function in TINA-TI.

All that really did was warm my processor up. :)

I set up the boost2battery circuit from the datasheet, used a stepwise linear source, and asked TINA-TI to compute the initial operating point. It took about 10 minutes to get 10ms into the simulation and nothing of note had happened. I couldn't get the simulation to converge if I tried to set initial conditions.

Is the encrypted SPICE file in slvmc05 for OrCAD?

Paul,

Yes, the .zip file contains the PSpice model and reference design that can be run. OrCAD is the schematic entry tool that is used with the PSpice simulation engine (and other Cadence tools) and the .opj file is the full project file.

Here is a copy of the schematic and the notes for running the device in PSpice. Note that the simulation takes quite some time to complete >40 minutes.

The simulation results are also shown. Please note that generic switches are used instead of FETs
