WEBENCH® Tools/TPS56C215: Schematic Edit

Part Number: TPS56C215
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi everyone

I'm a FAE intern in RTW team and I have a confuse point about WEBENCH Desgin Tools.

I want to edit a schematic not only change the part, like add an output cap or ... . And my question is "can I back to original page when I added(or minus) the component?" I want to see the relationship chart like efficienct to Iout, Duty to Iout.....

Thanks.

  • Hello Roy,

When you edit the schematic in WEBENCH (adding new component / changing wiring etc) you create a copy of your original design and this copy will not have some of the normal WEBENCH features (like the computation of operating values and charts for efficiency, duty cycle etc). The topology of the edited design may be different from the original design and the equations which compute the efficiency / duty-cycle etc will not be valid anymore. Edited schematic will still support electrical simulations, BOM listing table, schematic export to CAD tools and PDF Report generation. The original design is still preserved and can be accessed though "MyDesings/Projects" link at the upper left corner of any WEBENCH Designer page - and the original design will have all of the standard features including operating values and charts.

Thank you for using WEBENCH and to learn more about the WEBENCH Schematic editor please go though the below help material:

  • Hi Srikanth Pam

Thank you for your help! One question about it, so what simulation the I can do when I edited the schematic? time response or?

    Regards,
    Roy
  • Roy,

The schematic when you go to edit mode will be "Startup simulation" schematic from the original design. You can only do a time domain simulations and not Bode plot / AC simulations. You can change the input source / output load to configure it for load transient / input transient simulations along with startup. But note that editing capability is basic - for example you will not be able to setup initial conditions for components. If you would like to make major changes to the schematic you can also look at the "Sim export" option, where you can export and edit and simulate the WEBENCH schematic with your favorite CAD tool (TINA-TI / Altium / OrCAD).
