TIDA-00792: TIDA-00792

Part Number: TIDA-00792
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ769400, BQ78350-R1, BQ76940, BQ76940EVM

Hi,

  1. We build now a design based on TIDA-00792 and slua749A recommendation .
    1. I noticed that bq monitor which located on TI BOM is (TIDA-0079)  : BQ7694000DBTR
    2. We ordered BQ7694001DBTR bq...

                                                              i.     I want to be sure there shouldn’t be any problem to operate BQ7694001DBTR with bq78950-R1 Gauge ?

ii.     Any another consideration why you choose BQ7694000DBTR in   TIDA-00792?

  1. If you have some additional info or revision update to TIDA-00792 , slua749A  or  other please send me.

BR,

Rotem

  • Hi Rotem,
    1. The bq78350-R1 will support either the non-CRC or CRC monitor device as described in its technical reference manual. There should be no issue with the bq7694001 with the gauge. The bq7694000 was used on the TI Design since it is the base part, no special reason.
    2. There are no present update to the TIDA-00792 or apnote.
  • Hi,

I'm now at electrical schematics based on TIDA- 00792 and SLUA749A ( bq769X0 Family Top Design Consideration) ,The question in suggestion design according to PIN  REGSRC Supply  on bq76940 (pin num 9)

    1. I  choose  the parts  for source follower (N – FET case and series resistor case) Why all the explanation in SLUA749 par.9 based on pin load to high 20mA  ?

    1. If I do not use CAP1 LDO (3.3V) at all only Regout  to supply  bq78350-R1 what  load current should I  receive on REGSRC pin ?

    BR,

    Rotem

  • Hi Rotem,
    1. 20mA is basically the maximum specified current from REGOUT, so the discussion was at maximum output current but ignoring any internal bq76940 current and FET current which would also affect REGSRC.
    2. CAP1 should not be used for bq78350-R1. It is used as a reference for an LED supply in the bq76940EVM and TIDA-00792. REGOUT can provide up to 20mA and at 2.5V may be insufficient to provide current for LEDs. With the LEDs provided from some other supply, the current needed for REGSRC would be the sum of 1) the bq76940 supply current ICC_REGSRC, 2) the load current on the FET outputs, and 3) the load current on REGOUT. The REGOUT load current will be the supply current for the bq78350-R1 section 8.5, the occasional flash write supply current section 8.9, and any interface circuit bias currents (such as TIDA-00792 R78, R82, R105 to R108)
