WEBENCH® Tools/WEBENCH-POWER-DESIGNER: Worst Case Analysis Results Interpretation for Cross over frequency

Part Number: WEBENCH-POWER-DESIGNER

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Team,

How is the cross over frequency being calculated in the worst case analysis tool. After re-compensating this design i only achieved a max cross over frequency of ~50kHz which will always be under the minimum value of the worst case analysis tool which i cannot edit.

  • Hi Julio,

For worst case analysis - Vin is swept from Vinmax to Vinmin, Iout is swept from 10%Ioutmax to Ioutmax. Each component is swept according to the tolerance value - for example if Cout tolerance is +/-20%, it is varied from Cout*0.8 to Cout*1.2. Max and Min values from this parameter sweep will give you the worst case analysis table.

If you have achieved (a nominal) 50kHz cross-over using re-comp (assuming you have applied the changes to the design) the opval table will also show the same nominal 50kHz as cross over. In the worst case table the minimum should be less than 50kHz and maximum more than 50kHz.

If you are seeing that your nominal value is less than the minimum value in the worst case - please share your design id and I will look into the issue.
