Hi,

Simulating a reverse polarity protection some problems occurred:

Plotting the transient response for a fixed Voltage works fine - but measuring the current gives an Error "Convergence Problem. Check analysis parameters!"

The same message comes a when I use a square wave with for example +-12V to emulate reverse polarity - but only for certain window settings.

Furthermore DC Analysis gives a operating point not found warning. Is this due to the not stationary output voltage (graphic).

Hi Robert,

PFA the updated TINA-TI test bench .TSC is removed

Below is the simulation result

Kindly note that we have made the following changes to make it work

1. Changed the value of analysis parameter 'DC max abs. current incr. [A]' to 500m

2. Removed ".IC V(GATE_DRIVE )=0" statement from .LIB file inside the macro

Hi again,

I kept working with the Smart Diode Controller testing different Reverse Polarity approaches.

a) Is a Push-Pull Configuration (not optimal due to shoot-through current) delivering +-12V Vin

The output capacity keeps the output from dipping negative. The solution works.

b) Is a Full-Bridge configuration - pole switching is accomplished by UCC2701 Half-Bridge Drivers.

The LM74670 is placed between the Nodes HS1 and HS2. Note that there is no negative Input - only polarity switching.

I figured since Vanode - Vcathode is negative the Gate should turn off and disable reverse current flow.

Still the simulation takes a lot of time, and I am getting nowhere near the results I expect without the 10 Ohm resistor in parallel.

Any help/ ideas are welcome!
