LM5161: inverting buck boost simulation

Guru 20090 points
Part Number: LM5161
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Hello,

Our customer would like to simulate LM5161 inverting buck boost operation.
Their requirement is Vin=+5V, Vout=-90V, Iout=10mA.

I simulated LM5161 Vin95V, Vout,5V, Iout=10mA on the webench and export the TINA-TI file.
Then I modified the TINA-TI file to inverting buck boost topology.
However, I couldn't simulate it as I expected.

webench_design_3474743_835.tsc

Can I simulate inverting buck boost topology by TINA-TI file which was exported from Webench?
If yes, could you please let me know the wrong point in attached TINA-TI file?

I appreciate it if you support this issue.

Best Regards,
Ryuji

  • I don't support LM5161 directly, but I know that most TINA models have the GND pin hard coded as "ground". Therefore the models will not work in inverting buck boost mode. I'll move this to the modeling forum and they can confirm it.
  • Helo John san,

    I appreciate your reply.
I'm looking forward to reply from modeling team.

  • Hi Ryuji,

It seems we cannot simulate inverting buck boost topology using LM5161 TINA-TI model because the internal nodes of the model are defined with respect to hard ground i.e 0V. Also the AGND pin is not modelled, as it is grounded through 1kOhms resistor internally.

  • Hello Gupta san,

Thank you for your reply. I understood.
