suggestion for Webench

The Webench tool is GREAT.  But there is one thing I believe would improve it, at least for me.

Currently the area given for a solution assumes the smallest footprint of the decoupling capacitors.  The quality and reliability group of our company forbids the use of Aluminum capacitors, Tantalum capacitors, X5 and worse temperature stability ceramic capacitors; only polymer Tantalum and X7 ceramic are allowed.  Could Webench add filters for the capacitor type selection?

Best regards,

Philippe.

  • Hi Philippe,
Thanks for using Webench tool. Some times selection of Capacitor is fixed to a particular technology/type based on the device or it's application. However if there is no constraint set for type of capacitor used in the application, Webench does provide you an option to filter or select based on type/technology and many other parameters.

Click on the Capacitor in the Webench schematic --> Select Alternate Component --> Show more columns (check box) --> look for columns "Technology", "Series" etc and select the cap as per the requirement
