TINA/Spice/LM358: different behavior LM358 and LM358_101

Part Number: LM358
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hello,

Our customer trying evaluation LM358PW with TINA-TI.

They asked us which is correct model for them LM358 or LM358/101 and why the behavior is different from LM358 and LM358/101.

In TINA-TI, we can see both

" LM358 | Texas Instruments "  and

" LM358/101 | Texas Instruments "

from  "spice macro" tab -- "opamp" .

They and also I tried simulation by the customer's circuit, we had same results.

LM358 has very big change point iLM358.TSCLM358_101.TSCn phase-frequency performance, however LM358 has not.

I attached two .tsc file, please check them and please give us your advice.

Thanks and best regards,

Hiro

  • Hiro-san,
These are both very, very old models of even older devices. One was done at TI and the other was done ant National Semiconductor long before they joined TI.
Models at that time were only meant to show DC and very low frequency behavior.
Both devices & models are so old it is not possible to use the data sheets to clarify things very much. In this case, it would be best if the customer would measure real devices to find what they need to know.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.
    Regards,
    John
  • Hello John-san,

Thank you for your replying, I understand.
And I'll ask the customer to evaluate real device for better result, simulation is not better.

    Thanks and best regards,
    Hiro
