TIDA-00951: Reg. use of TLV1117-33IDRJR (U12)

Part Number: TIDA-00951

Hi!

We have developed the PCB and while testing we encountered the following error in the board :

The IC U12 - TLV1117-33IDRJR should give 3.3V output from input of 5V. But it doesnt seem to give the expected output.  When we compared the schematics of  00951 and 01280, there seems to be a schottkey diode connected between the output and input in 01280 design. Can you pls clarify if the schottkey diode should be added or not to get 3.3 V output from the IC??

  • Hi Swathika,

I believe you are talking about the below diode in the picture:

The diode is recommended for the protection of the IC in case of short circuit fault. The LDO should work and give 3.3V output with 5V input even without the diode.

    Thank you,

    Regards,
