TIDA-00951: bidirectional DC-DC converter

Part Number: TIDA-00951

Hello

I am trying to build a bidirectional DC-DC converter based on TIDA-009551 reference design to use it in 2.25 KVA online ups.

is it possible to use this reference design with 36-240 V Battery ??

and why the range is only 36-60 v Battery??

  • Hi AYACHE,

The TIDA-00951 is design is built to work with (12-14 cell) Li-Ion/Po and 4 cell lead acid batteries. This is the reason for limiting the input voltage level to 36-60V.

Having said that, If I understand your question, do you intend to have a battery voltage that can vary between 36V to 240V?.

  • Thank you for your reply
The question is, can we design a model based on TIDA-00951 with varying batteries voltage 36 to 240 vDc?
And what will be the effect of increasing the battery voltage in the efficiency?
    Best regards
  • Hi AYACHE,

Technically you will be able to develop a system whcih can operate from 36V to 240V DC Bus, however there will be significant efficiency consequences.

You will need to choose a mosfet with atleast 400V VDS rating. The Rdson of such a mosfet will be too high to be able to transfer 2.5KW power at 36V.
