TIDA-01093: Use a BQ76940 and a BQ76930 to support up to 24-Series cell application

Dear TI experts,

TI has a reference design of 2 BQ76930 to support maximum 20-series cell application, and I intend to design a system to monitor up to 24-series cell application. Also,I want to minimize the cost.

I wonder if I can use one BQ76930 and one BQ76940 for 24S cell application just like TIDA-01093 Reference Design.

If so, what should I pay attention to？Or just like TIDA-01093 Reference Design?

10 cells and 14 are not too different. In general:
1. Be sure the FETs used can handle the voltage, in your case some will have more voltage than the 10 cell/10 cell design.
2. Be sure each level shifter stage has enough operating room. Since you have more cells it should be fine.
3. Related to 2, be sure each level shifter stage has proper bias current. If the voltage or cell count were reduced, check for minimum, if the voltage or cell count is increased which is the case here, be sure there is not too much current flowing for the power rating of the transistors.
4. Check the rating of any individual ICs or regulator circuits for the higher voltage rating.

Generally it should work since the author would have made a robust design, but it has changed and the author may not have considered a requirement you have in that design. You should look at each case, the new design will be yours and you should be sure of it.
