TINA/Spice: current feedback amplifier noise analysis

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hi, ı need noise analysis simulation at TINA for CURRENT FEEDBACK AMPLIFIER, ( art kays' noise book only consider voltage feedback amplifier for noise ) how can ı get evaluate total output noise, input voltage noise density and input current noise density for CURRENT FEEDBACK AMPLIFIER at TINA, ?, Is there any documentation about them?

Thanks, Mert Yetkin

  • Mert,

The general noise equations and analysis for a current-feedback amplifier are the same as for as for a voltage-feedback amp.
The analysis uses the two input-referred current noise components and one voltage-noise component.
The main difference is that a voltage-feedback amp has current-noise components that are assumed to be equal, while a current-feedback amp has current-noise components that are usually unequal in value.

Some app notes assume from the outset that the two current-noise components are equal (e.g. voltage-feedback) , while others do not (e.g. current-feedback).

There are a couple of app notes that present a noise analysis that treats the two current-noise components as separate variables.
One is Noise Analysis in Operational Amplifier Circuits, literature number SLVA043B (see equation 17).
The other is Noise Analysis in High Speed Op Amps, literature number SBOA066A (see equation 5).

The second app note looks at the case of current-feedback amps, while the first is more general.

They are available by simply typing in the literature numbers in the search field at ti.com.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

    Regards,
    John
