In the Solar MPPT Charge Controller design(TIDA-00120) what is the importance of the diode D1??

    Santosh,

    It's part of a passive circuit for reverse battery connection protection. Q6 will only conduct if a battery is connected with the correct polarity, with its gate pulled high by R10. Since the system supports a wide range of battery voltages, Q1 protected the gate of Q6 from being driven too high.
