TIDA-00940: EMI of design without second half-wave rectifier diode

Part Number: TIDA-00940
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28881

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

I am very interested in the UCC28881 and wanted to use it in a design for energy metering.

To work correctly, the analog ground has to have the same potential as the neutral conductor, because the AFE only has an input range of +/-600mV. With the second rectifier diode of the half wave rectifier (D3), this would not be possible to achieve. But it is stated that the diode is needed for better (common-mode conducted) EMI.

Do you know how the conducted emission test would perform without the second diode? Do I need something in addition, e.g. a common-mode choke?

Thank you very much in advance!

Best regards,

W. Fried
