PMP9253: 10-60V input to provide 15V@3A isolated output using LM5022

Part Number: PMP9253
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5022

I would like to use PMP9253 (similarily design) to provide 10-60V input and 3A@+15 output isolated, change the transformer to 1:3. Will the design work base on  PMP9253.

  • Hi Duong,

    Thanks for the question.

Is your transformer ratio written in terms of (primary:secondary?)

If that's so, the LM5022 can support the duty cycles required.

The current transformer on the PMP9253 can only support peak currents up to 4.62A. With your setup, and your new transformer ratio of (1:3), AND assuming 100% efficiency, you will get an input current higher than saturation. So I would recommend changing the size of the transformer.

  • Thank you for your quick response. Where can I order the evaluation Module PMP9253 or the PCB?.

    I am considering using VP5-0053-R (3.4uH Isat=4.59A) transformer ratio 1:3  (Np: Ns1) and the feedback ration 1:2 (Np: Ns2).

  • According to some calculations I did, the current rating of the transformer should exceed that of the VP5-0053-R.

The PMP9253 is not orderable. The design files are available on the 9253's page. The following link should have the necessary calculations to determine the transformer size: www.ti.com/.../snva761.pdf
