TIDA-01167: TIDA-01167 Reverse Polarity Protection

Part Number: TIDA-01167
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5060, LM5060-Q1

Hi TI team,

I see the TIDA-01167 Figure 36.37.

there will have a output negative voltage -3.37V when battery reverse

but the LM5060 absolute OUT min voltage is -0.3V( same as so many IC)

so, the output voltage -3.37V is ok for LM5060 and other rear end IC

  • Hello Kevin,

    Greetings,

If we see the test scenario, it is a transient voltage test of ISO7637-2 pulse 1. If we see the output behavior it has dropped to -3.37V for few micro seconds and returned to zero very fastly.

In TIDA-01167 there is R1 with 10Kohm resistor from actual output pin to OUT pin of LM5060-Q1, stress on LM5060-Q1 is negligible due to the transient pulse with low energy along which also has series resistor.

Note: TIDA-01167 is tested without any load and filter components.

In actual applications TIDA-01167 is placed before the input of DC-DC circuit. Filter capacitors at input of DC-DC circuits will not allow the drop of voltages for transients, there is a very low chance of seeing this negative transient behavior in complete system testings.

    Thanks
    Regards
    Rama
