WEBENCH® Tools: Problem with getting Transformer details

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28C42

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hello,

I am designing a flyback converter with UCC28C42 for the following specification.

Vin (18V to 30V)

Output: 24V @ 2A to 3A.

A few days ago when I entered the above specifications, I got a complete design with transformer details. But now I am not able to get the details. This happens very frequently on Webench. Sometimes it doesn't give transformer details. When I try to open previous designs that time it doesn't open the transformer details.

Please look into this issue.

I have one more question, when webench shows custom components with very high ratings, what to do?

Regards

Vishal Kakade.

  • Hi Vishal,

We will get back to you on this query.

  • Hi Vishal,

Apologize for the issue, The reason is because we updated our "Transformer Selection" recently and made it more practical to design by limiting the number of strands which can be used for Pri/Sec windings.

This should be the reason why now we are not able to get a Core/Bobbin getting selected for this operating condition.

I am checking into if the algorithm can produce a Transformer for your condition/ or I will need to add some more core/bobbin in our database to support it.

Regarding your other query, can you let me know which are those custom components, as HV AC/DC and DC/DC designs typically require high rated components and due to limited database, we get some components as "Custom" in this design.

if there is a "custom" component, you can try finding components on distributor website to find that part with the proposed WEBENCH limits. When is not possible to get that part, so in those cases, we can parallel some components like diodes/resistors/capacitors to meet the requirements(current rating, power rating, voltage rating, etc)

So it will depend which part is "Custom" in the design and what are its electrical params requirements.

Can you help share the design with me at sahilg@ti.com so that I can see which components are custom, and check into that.

    Thanks
    sahil
