TINA/Spice: TPD4E05U06 and IEC61000 simulation models

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI, TPD4E05U06

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hi,

In my application I need to protect my circuit (RS422 serial communication at ~10MSPS) from IEC61000-4-2 (ESD), IEC61000-4-4 (EFT) and IEC61000-4-2 (Surge). For that purpose, I select the TPD4E05U06 IEC ESD device. Can I simulate this module in TINA TI? Do you have simulation for the IEC61000 testing? (even partial testing will help too…).

  • Idan,
We don't  provide models that reflect ESD behavior, mostly because we have no guidelines on how to accurately model & simulate ESD events in Spice-type tools like TINA.

There is an IBIS model for signal integrity simulations in tools like Hyperlynx.
The S-parameter model will let a user simulate the device's transmission-line loading effects in a tool like Hspice of Keysight ADS.
Both models are intended to reflect the device's loading on a signal path when the device is not conducting current from an ESD event.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Regards,
    John
