TINA/Spice/TPS56C215: problems about load transient simulation

Part Number: TPS56C215
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hi team,

I downloaded the Tina-Ti of TPS56C215 from Webench, and I want to simulate the load transient effect from 3~9 A.

I replaced the default Iload and Rload by a current generator as below shown.

Below is my set up:

The simulation results show that the output voltage turn to -1.25 and the Vout ripple is 10 times larger than data sheet.

What's wrong with my simulation setup? Why the output voltage turn to negative?
Thanks!

  • Please start the simulation with a resistive load so it can go though startup. When it reaches steady state, then you can switch on the current pulse to apply the transient.

What you are currently doing is drawing 3A current when Vout is 0V, whcih means that you are discharging Cout to below 0V. Using a resistive load for startup will resolve this as load current will ramp up slowly.
