TINA/Spice/UCC256301: calculate the parameters of UCC256301 simplis model

Part Number: UCC256301
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hi:

I am building a LLC system model with UCC256301 simplis model, but the UCC256301 model on ti.com seems to be not completed with some missing function such as LL/SS pin. So I don't understand how to calculate the parameters for my circuit. These parameters are used to program the UCC256301 model, and thay are: LL   TD1   TD2   TMAX    VSS_init   Fault_reset

Can I bother you to tell me how to calculate these parameters?

Thank you so much.

Best Regards,

Li, Gang

  • Hi Gang,

I am forwarding this question to the product line who can answer this. They are the best to answer this question.

  • Hi Gang,

Below is the description for the parameters that you listed, and how to chose the values.

LL: Burst mode threshold (Please refer to section 8.2.2.20 "Burst Mode Programming" for how to selecting the voltage in the simulation)

TD1, TD2: deadtimes for high side and low side gate drivers (obsolete value as UCC25630 adopts adaptive deadtime control, do not need to set.)

TMAX: maximum gate on time (UCC25630 has the value as 14.5us per datasheet. If you want to simulate exact number, please put 14.5us. This parameter is provide for customer to test different maximum gate on time)

Vss_init: initial voltage on SS pin (In the real application, this voltage should be at zero. This parameter is provided for customer with the flexibility to startup faster for faster simulation)

Fault_reset: Pause time during a fault (UCC25630 has the value of 1s. Because this time is long, we are providing the parameter for customer to adjust for faster simulation)

For other circuit parameters, you can use the design calculator (link below) or the online webench tool.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

  • Hi Yalong:

Actually I have some problems and my model doesn't work(it can't be started at all). Does this error caused by the wrong parameters mentioned above?
    Here is the error message:

    <<<<<<<< Error Message ID: 5046 >>>>>>>>

Unable to find a starting operating
point after 256 tries. For example, check
    the following devices:

    X$U2.X$U1.X$U12.A_COMP, X$U2.X$U17.X$U3.A_BUF
    X$U2.X$U17.X$U4.A_BUF, X$U2.X$U7.X$U10.A_BUF
    X$U2.X$U7.X$U48.A_BUF

(X$U2 is the label of UCC256301)
    Sorry to bother you.
    Thank you so much.
