TINA/Spice: Floating point overflow ERROR

Hi Team,

When trying to simulate a MOSFET(TPCC8106 pspice) using TINA-TI, however "Floating point overflow" error appears and I cannot be executed the simulation.
Could you please tell me how to solve the this problem.

Hi Sato-san,

I am not sure what you are trying to test with the circuit so I setup a basic circuit to test the PMOS. I re-imported the model just to make sure there was no issue in the pin mapping.

My circuit works fine (see below). Let me know if you can use this as a starting point for your evaluation.

I hope to use pmosfet for like SW, but it cannot work simulator used this model.

I don't think you can float the nodes of the MOSFET in simulation. Please apply the appropriate voltage to the terminals when the device is supposed to be non functional.

The circuit I attached in my last email should also function as a switch.

Thank you for the quick answer.
But I don’t know why this circuit cannot work.
This model can simulate using other pmos, is there a problem with the spice model?

By the way, trying the same circuit with Pspice it was worked correctly, but I confirmed that it cannot work with TINA.

Hi Sato-san,

It may be the way the model is constructed. It is not a primitive FET model, instead it is a subcircuit combinations of primitives and that is completely upto the model developer. Perhaps one of the connections inside the model does not allow the nodes to be floated.

For everyone's reference, this issue has been fixed.

It was found that in the BSIM model the value of the CAPMOD parameter is 3. CAPMOD 3 is not supported in the BSIM version 3.1 model which is available in Tina-TI version 9. If you set the CAPMOD parameter to 2 the circuit will run and you get pretty much the same result as in PSpice
