PMP10812: Input 19V solution

Part Number: PMP10812
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5010, TPS2378, TPS2376-H, LM5005, TPS2376

Hi E2E,

Our customer want to use this design for non-Standard PD solution.

BUT some condition can't meet...

1. Vin=19V~56V

2. VOUT=10W

Could we change LM5010 to meet the conditions?
Did you have suitable part for it?

Thanks!

  • Julian, hello and thank you for you interest in Texas Instruments. While we have received your inquiry here, please be advised that the design owner for this particular design is out of the office on holiday and won't return to the office until Wednesday, January 2nd. Upon his return to office, you should receive a response 1-2 days after his return.

    Best Regards,
    J. Fullilove

  • Is the 19V input is at the adapter?  The PoE input to the TPS2378 has a minumum turn-on voltage of 38.1V nominal.  If you need 19V input at the PoE, take a look at the TPS2376-H.  This PoE PD controller has an adjustable UVLO.  The current limit of the hot swap FET is 625mA, so you won't be able to get the full 13W  with a 19V input.  App note SLVU188 shows a current booster circuit that can be added to the TPS2376-H to increase the current capability.

The LM5010 can be replaced with a LM5005, which has a 2.5A rating.  The example circuit in the datasheet is for a 5V/2.5A output.

  • Hi David,

    Thanks for you reply.

Our customer will use 19V/24V/30V adaptor or use 36~57V standard PoE as input voltage.
(They want to make the reference design for them.)

For cost issue, so they want to use non-isolated architecture.

For this conditions, Would is it suitable to promote TPS2376/TPS2378 + LM5005 for them?

  • Hi David,

I have some question reply on Jan 2, 2019. Could you kindly let me know?
    Thanks for your support!
  • For the stated conditions the TPS2378 + LM5005 should work ok.
