WEBENCH® Tools/TPS7A49: Problem with TPS7A49

Part Number: TPS7A49
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A4001

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hello

i have some problem with TPS7A49 ic simulation

i tried some different values of Vout and always i get big error voltage

for example, with Vin = 30, Vout = 15 and Iout = 0.05 i get 14.4V instead of 15V (stady state)

it's gets worse when i asking for higher Vout...

by the way, i see the same problem on my PCB board

my Vin = 30 and Vout = 28. i get correct Vout only when there is no any current consumption

with 3mA load, the output voltage is dropped to 26.5V

I'd be happy to get help with this...

thnks

david

  • Hi david,

I would be happy to help troubleshoot this problem relating to your PCB before looping in someone from the WEBENCH team to help with your simulation and model questions.

Is the schematic shown above the one used for your PCB? I do not see any issues assuming TRM1 is a variable resistor (please correct me if I am wrong). As you are applying small load currents, this behavior would not be caused by the regulator entering dropout. Are you able to provide scope shots of the input voltage, output voltage, and output current when the load current is changed from 0 mA to 3 mA or higher? This would help in looking for any stability issues.

    Thanks,
    Gerard
  • Hello

    thnks about your quick response.

i probably was a soldering problem... i replaced it to TPS7A4001 (because i was thinking there is a problem with the ic) and everything's OK

    thanks again
