WEBENCH® Tools/WEBENCH-POWER-DESIGNER: WEBENCH-POWER-DESIGNER

Part Number: WEBENCH-POWER-DESIGNER

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Dear TI,

It seems that the Webench Op-Amp design tool doesn't work anymore. The link takes you to power designer.

Best,

George

  • Dear George,

The WEBENCH Amplifier Designer had been sunset as Adobe Flash is phasing out soon.
I'm sorry that some entry points for this tool are still floating around as we are actively removing all the entry points for the Amplifier Designer.
Please try the Search by Amplifier Circuit Function tool if you need help in selecting an optimal op-amp for your circuit(s).

  • Thank you for your reply Alfred.

So if I got it right instead of migrating to HTML5 you are removing such a nice tool altogether. What a shame.

The links is as you set an op-amp selection tool - nothing like the Webench Amp Designer.

Hope TI changes their mind about it.

    Best wishes,

    George

  • George,

I'm so glad to hear your feedback that you appreciate the Amplifier Designer.

The decision was made because we received a lot of feedback that they would like more

help in selecting amplifier than designing the circuit. Hence, we prioritized the amplifier selection tool

and released it end of last year. We planned to develop an amplifier design tool with simple

features in HTML this year. I hope you will continue supporting our tools and provide your feedback.

We definitely need to receive more positive feedback to assure that we are moving in the right direction

and the tool we created really help you in your designs.

    Regards,

    Alfred

  • I want to add my voice to this, I personally found the Webbench amplifier designer to be a great tool. It is quick and simple to use.
TI should have worked to keep it live until its HTML replacement was ready.

Here's hoping that the promised HTML replacement is as simple and intuitive to use as the original was
  • Steve,

Thank you for you feedback! We really appreciate it.

    Regards,

    Alfred

  • But we also hope you do something about it.
    Best regards,
    George
  • George,

Could you please help me understand how are you using the tool? For selection or design?
What features you like the most? In what specific area(s) the tool really contribute to your design?
You feedback will definitely help us in tailoring the future tool.

    Thanks,
    Alfred
  • It helped me quite often to quickly design an amplifier circuit around my specs (usually inputs / outputs). It was a very powerful companion to the unpopulated TI op-amp evaluation boards. I could put together an amplifier in minutes.
The component selection was also very useful. I wish you would bring it back while compiling an html version.

  • George,

We recognize the criticality of your feedback and believe that it has a signification impact in shaping the direction of our future amplifier tool.
I would like to have further discussions with you on some of your feedback thru email. Will this be ok with you if I reach out to you thru your email? Please kindly close this thread since we are moving our discussion offline.

    Regards,
    Alfred
  • Dear Alfred,

I don't mind using email, I however suspect that your intention is to just close the thread and not to reach a solution. I hope I will be proven wrong.

If that's not the case, I appreciate your time and help trying to save webench and I will be looking forward to receiving from you.

    Best regards,

    George

  • Dear George,

To be honest, one of the intentions indeed is to close this thread and bring our discussion offline :). The main reason is as a tool definer for WEBENCH(R) amplifier designer, the new Filter Design Tool, WEBENCH(R) Interface Designer and so on, I would really like to listen to your feedback. In fact, this is the first time I received such a great feedback and I think found my fan. In our following discussion through email, your feedback could involve in depth discussion for the detail features of our future tools which I think should be kept confidential until they are ready for public.

    Regards,
    Alfred
  • Thanks Alfred,
Please contact me anytime if I can help with feedback or otherwise.
    Best wishes,
    George
