WEBENCH® Tools: Design history shows incorrect creation time

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Under myTI account -> My activity -> My designs there is a column headed "Created date (GMT)" (which is my correct time zone) but some of the times shown there are plainly incorrect, e.g. 2:24 AM (I wasn't up that early!). I don't think is a time zone bug; instead I suspect the problem is that all times are labelled AM whether they were AM or actually PM, since all of my designs are shown with an AM time.

  • Further information on this: Atul has kindly drawn my attention to the My Designs link within the HTML WEBENCH Power Designer tool, and this shows different creation times, still wrong but in a different way. For example, my third design with today's date is shown as created at 5:57 AM on the 'My activity' page but 15:57:52 in the HTML tool. Since it's only 14:39 right now, that can't be correct either.
  • Hi Richard,

This looks like a bug and we will work on fixing the incorrect design creation times. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will work on the fix and will keep you updated on an estimate of when the fix will reflect on production version.

    Regards,
    Amod
  • Hi Richard,

Wanted to give an update that we are looking at this issue and estimate a fix in about 2 release cycles around end of March.

  • HI Richard,

This issue has been resolved on ti.com.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Mahantesh,

Thanks for getting in touch, but I'm afraid the issue is not resolved on the WEBENCH designs page of myTI. Just to be certain, I logged out of myTI, cleared the cache and cookies from the browser then closed and reopened it (I'm now using Microsoft Edge for the HTML version of WEBENCH) and logged in again. One design, from back in 2013, does now show up with a PM creation time, so something has changed, but several of the times are not believable.

In case the fix doesn't apply to historical designs (which would be disappointing and rather pointless, since this is all about design history!) I created a completely new design at 14:10 in my local time, which is GMT+1. In the My Designs dialogue in the HTML version of WEBENCH the new design shows up like this:

So that one is now correct for my local time. However, on the WEBENCH designs page of myTI the same design shows up like this:

So that claims to be GMT (which should give a time of 13:10 i.e. 1:10 PM) but is actually showing as if in the time zone GMT-7 (e.g. Pacific Daylight Time). This page now agrees with what is shown in the Flash tool (which doesn't state a time zone):

    Regards,

    Richard

  • Hi Richard,

This issue resolved on Webench. But for myTi we have sent this query to concerned team and let you soon once it is fixed.

  • Hi Richard,

We have forwarded issue w.r.t time zone on MyTI designs to appropriate team.
Could you please clarify issue w.r.t below statement mentioned in your previous comment ?

"One design, from back in 2013, does now show up with a PM creation time, so something has changed, but several of the times are not

    believable "

    Thanks & Regards,
    Harish

  • Hi Harish,

As requested, I'll try to clarify the statement you quoted:

    1. In my original post I mentioned that all of my designs were showing up with an AM creation time. Now, my design #17 is shown as 10 Oct 2013 11:10 PM, so something has changed. (I suspect that most or all of the reported times have changed, but I didn't note down their previous values.)
    2. The column heading claims that the times are in GMT, and my time zone is GMT in the winter and GMT+1 in the summer. If we believe the column heading then almost all of the times are not believable because I wouldn't have been creating them in the middle of the night(!):
      1. #4 17 Dec 2010 12:27 AM
      2. #17 10 Oct 2013 11:10 PM
      3. #20 15 Oct 2013 4:58 AM
      4. #41 04 Mar 2019 6:19 AM
      5. #42 05 Mar 2019 6:10 AM
      6. #69 19 Mar 2019 6:57 AM
      7. #91 01 Apr 2019 2:16 AM
      8. #104 10 Apr 2019 6:10 AM (it was actually created at 13:10 GMT as stated in my previous post)
    3. If, on the other hand, it's just the column heading that's wrong, and it should actually state that it's in Pacific Time (with or without daylight saving?) then most of these are believable, and #104 would certainly be correct if it was PDT (as stated in my previous post). The only suspicious one would then be #17, because 11:10 PM Pacific is 7:10 AM in my time zone (Pacific time zone and mine were both using daylight saving on 10 October 2013), which is still rather early for me to be at work.
    4. It actually makes more sense if the times are quoted in a GMT-7 time zone that doesn't use daylight saving (like Mountain Standard Time in Arizona I think, but my understanding of US time zones may be incorrect). In that case #104 6:10 AM is still 13:10 GMT, 14:10 in my current locale, but now #17 11:10 PM becomes 07:10 GMT i.e. 08:10 in GMT+1 which would have been my time zone, and is a believable time for me to have created that design.
    5. I also note that the times shown in the My Designs dialogue in the HTML version of WEBENCH are all 8 hours ahead of the times shown in myTI, except for #69 19 Mar 2019 6:57 AM which is shown as 13:57 i.e. only 7 hours ahead. I'm sure it's significant that this is the only one created during the three weeks between the start of daylight saving in the US and in Europe, but I'll leave it to your software team to get their heads round that one.

That all looks seriously nerdy, but I hope it answers your question!

    Regards,

    Richard

  • Richard,

We are working with the team that manages with feature on TI.com. We have made this a priority we will address it soon. Thanks for taking the time to explain the issue in detail. We really appreciate the feedback.

    Thanks
