TINA/Spice/LF356: How to add library in OrCAD

Part Number: LF356
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hi dears

I want to do a simulation with OrCAD capture 17.2 so i do bellow actions:

1- I downloaded the LF356.zip from ti website and extracted it to LF356.mod .

2- I fallowed the reveal that described in page bellow:

https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/92848/how-to-import-pspice-model-into-orcad-capture

3- when I insert the LF356 part in my simulation project, I see a part that is not similar to an op amp and its a box with 5 pins. (I attached the screen shot of my observation in bellow )

Questions:

please help me to know what's my wrongs and is my manner correct or not?

if i'm wrong how can i include the lf356 library to my project and do my simulation with it?

is there other library for lf356 that not be .mod file and be proper for pspice?

is there any op amp that be similar to LF356 in Gain BandWith and Open Loop Gain and Slow Rate that have correct and better Pspice library for use in my project simulation?

i be partly confused.

Thanks for all.

Adel Amani

  • Hi Adel,

Your step is correct. What you're struggling there it's just the symbol shape/picture. You can always modify the symbol you showed there by going to the tab to the left of your tab that says "PAGE1" and "SCHEMATIC" (This is the tab that has the hierarchy of the project including .DSN, simulation profiles etc).

On that one go to the folder that says "Library" then right click "Add File" your .OLB file there. Then click on the plus sign to expand your .OLB file. From there, choose the symbol shape that you want to change, right click and click edit part. You can modify your symbol there.

Once you are done, make sure you clear "Design Cache" and "Library Cache" that is beneath the "Design Resources" folder and "Library" Folder.

To search for similar parts or parts that you want specific parameters, you can use: http://www.ti.com/amplifier-circuit/op-amps/products.html

Then to search for all TI pspice models, you can use: https://webench.ti.com/webench5/spicemodels/#

  • Thank you for your good descriptions, I have trouble with using LF356 in my project ever now.

When i produce LF356 's library in the manner I said and you completed it, I see a component as below figure:

as you see the component have 5 pins that are name as 1, 2, 28, 50, 99. I dont know which of them is Negative input, Positive input, Output, Negative supply, Positive supply of op-amp pins.

please answer to my below question:

from where i can find out which pin is Negative/Positive input, Output, Negative/ Positive supply?

    Thanks for your attention.

  • thanks for dear Herman
The answer is very good but i cant match component pins with LF356 op amp pins.
    thanks a lot
  • Hi Adel,

When you open the netlist text file, on the header of the file, around line 30 to 38 of the text file, you should see the pins description to know which pins number are inverting and non-inverting etc.

  • Hi Herman

    your guide vanished my problem!

    Thank you
  • with" right click on component> edit PSpice model> go to user notes(under the opened window)", I can see the action of pins.
