TINA/Spice/UCC28070: UCC28070 Average and Transient models are same, How to use the IRIPB, IRIPA, F_KHz pins in simulation?

Part Number: UCC28070
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

hi,

I have a problem in SPICE model for UCC28070. In similar threads of UCC28070, meaning of three pins viz. IRIPB, IRIPA, F_KHZ is cleared.

I want to know how to use them? we cannot leave the pins unconnected.

Please clear What to do with that pin? or how to use that pins while simulating (Considering both the models average as well as transient)?

Average model has three pins but transient model also have the same pins as of average model, There is no change in both the model. Please clarify?

Thanks

  • Hi Shubham,

IRIPA, IRIPB, F_KHZ are additional pins added to the average model of UCC28070. F_KHZ pin generates the value of switching frequency. This value is taken as input to BOOST_AVG module for some internal calculation. BOOST_AVG module contains the average model implementation of Boost output stage. BOOST_AVG module generates peak to peak inductor current ripple value through IRIPX pin.

UCC28070 PSpice transient model is derived from the average model. Hence, those additional pins are present in transient model as well.

For our simulations we cannot leave the pins unconnected as those pins generate some information which is required for the loop to work properly. Therefore, I would request you to always connect F_KHZ pin of the UCC28070 to K_KHZ pin of BOOST_AVG module. Same connections are needed for IRIPA/IRIPB as well. I hope this clears your doubt.

  • hi,

Thanks Arpan for your explaination. I am cleared with my doubts.

    Thank you

  • Hi,

I have simulated the design but not able to obtain the desired result. Please, can you check and review the design.
