WEBENCH® Tools/ADS1292R: Using the AFE without the respiration module

Part Number: ADS1292R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1292

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hello all,

I'm trying to use the ADS1292R for ECG purposes (I'm not interested in getting respiration measurements). I went to page 58 of the datasheet and I found schematic for the input signals, but it includes the respirartion inputs too (I attach a picture bellow). My question is: what should I do with the respiration inputs if I won't use them? Can I just use the same schematic and just ignore the respiration inputs, or should I make some changes?

Thank you in advance for your help!

  • Hello dariasho,

Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum!

We have a similar device, called the ADS1292 which is the same device but without the respiration feature - have you considered using this device?

For the inputs, all you really need is an RC filter for anti-aliasing purposes. Will you be using the RLD electrode? If not, you may want to tie the inputs to mid-supply using 10M ohm resistors - like what is shown in the picture - in order to keep the measurement from drifting out of the common-mode range of the PGA.
  • Alexander,

Thank you for your reply; it answers my question. And you are right, it is better for me to use the ADS1292.

About the RLD, I'm planning on using it
