TIDA-00281: Require schematic review "PCB-BLDCDRVR-1926-1C-01"

Part Number: TIDA-00281

Hi,

We have an application to run 60V/250W BLDC motor for EV.

We have prepared one schematic to do so by taking reference of TIDA-00281.We have also done some of the modifications and also not included lots of parts which is not necessary for us.

I want some expert from TI provide schematic review for attached file.SCH-BLDCDRVR-1926-1C-01.pdf

  • Hi Abhi,

Thanks for your interest in our drivers, my name is Mamadou Diallo from the High Power Drivers team.

I can provide comments and suggestions from a gate driver perspective (UCC27201Q1 + FETs).

While we're reviewing the schematic, what specific modifications have you made from the reference design? I ask because any changes, as small as they may be, can impact the performance of the overall system so I want to make sure we have clear picture of the modifications you made to maintain the same performance from our devices.

Given that the components used are rated at 100V, using a higher bus voltage from 48V to 60V should not be present cause for concern.

the gate drive portion of your circuit:

-Higher voltage decoupling capacitors C23 and C24 are really not necessary given that you're operating at the same bias voltage 12V but it should not be a concern.

-Higher voltage capacitors (50V) C27 and C26 are also OK.

I would also recommend you to ensure a similar layout on the PCB as the reference design specifically the power stage to minimize stray inductance in the gate drive portion.

    Regards,

    -Mamadou

  • Hi Mamadou,

    Thanks for your review.

Below are the Modifications done from TIDA-00281.

(1)Big input filter inducters are ommitted.

(2)Flyback section is skipped as we have voltages available with us.

(3)Temprature sensors are also skipped as we don't need them.

We have used almost all the parts of TI.So, please provide review on different sections also like MOSFETs,Current sensing etc.

Other than that for this board we have requirement to design in 2-Layers.

Will there any problem if i design this board in 2-Layer?

What precautions and things i need to keep in mind while designing with 2-Layers?
