WEBENCH® Tools: TINA-TI magnetic component simulation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI, UCC2721

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

I've a simple question : does TINA-TI support the Jiles-Atherton model ????

I wrote recently the following PSPICE model for aa simple  transformer but the model doesn't work

.More the transformer works as an  ideal transformer without taking in account the suggested  magnetic model of the core !!!

he N67 is an old ferrite material from EPCOS and was replaced,I think, with new N87 type .With 40  turns, the primary current must have a (+/-) a Lp=3.56mH and the magnetic component of primary current should exibit a sawtooth with a Im,pk=0.64A nevertheless nothing of this happens……….

Is only a test so ifr TINA-TI doesn't support this model …….NO PROBLEM !

Nevetheless i'm curious

Thanking in advance for Your courtesy,

Piero CERRI

  • Dear Pietro CERRI,

From my understanding TINA-TI does not support "Jiles-Atherton" model for simulating Core / Transformer.

If you are trying to simulate the Transformer to be used with a specific TI product - I encourage you to please post this question in the respective product category on the e2e forum so the experts in that product may be able to help you with alternative ways of performing such simulations.

    Best Regards,

    Srikanth Pam

  • Dear Pam,

    The application is quite simple

The application is a full-bridge driver for a transformer :

    1)The drivers are 2xUCC27211

    2)The 2 UCC2721 drive 4 MOSFET stb120nf10t4 by ST

The problem is simple:the transfomer a magnetic components don't work .

I think the problem is inside TINA-TI and in the JIles-Atherton model.

I tried many times for finding in WEB an answer ...NOTHING !

Many, many talks but substance nothing is the Cnosso's labyrint.

I will find adifferent solution to my problem by using the available non linear model in TINA-TI or ,more,if TINA Full Specs from Design Soft run my designs, by acquiring that package………...650 EUROS isn't a lunar amount of money.

Pam do you know really what's the problem?

The probles is inside TI:  when  the UNITRODE wasw acquired from TI all the know-how on magnetics  magnetic components design phisosophy know-how was lost !!!

This is problem and there no solution to this problem !

If You have any other suggestion...

    Thank You very, very much…...

    Piero CERRI ( Peter)
