eDP to FPD-Link3

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB941AS-Q1, DS90UB949-Q1

Hi Team,

I have aquestion about FPD-Link3.

I am looking for a conversion device from eDP to FPD-Link3.
I couldn't find it on TI's web.
I think eDP / DP and MIPI will become mainstream in the future panel market.
Will you develop FDP-Link3 products that support eDP in the future? Is it under development?

Best Regards,
Ishiwata

  • Hello Ishiwata,

We currently do not have any device in the market for such conversion but stay tuned for new product announcements. We can not share any information on new product development on the public forum or without an NDA in place.

    Best Regards,

    Casey

  • Hello Ishiwata,

For the time being, we do have a new MIPI DSI serializer released. Please see DS90UB941AS-Q1 on TI.com.

For testing with DP/eDP at this time you could utilize a DP to HDMI converter device in conjunction with our DS90UB949-Q1 HDMI serializer.

    Best Regards,

    Casey

  • Hellow Casey,

    Thank you for your reply
Is it the same usage as DS90UB929A-Q1?
I examined it, but I think it is different from DP because it is DP ++.
    Is my understanding correct?
With this product, TMDS signal (= HDMI transmission method) of DP++ can be transmitted. Therefore, I understand that DP cannot be entered.

  • Hello Ishiwata,

I didn't mean to confuse you. 949 does not support DisplayPort. It can support HDMI and can interface with the DP++ physical layer but it is still HDMI only.

My point was to offer an alternative method to evaluate DisplaPort in the short term which is to utilize an external DisplaPort to HDMI converter device and then feed the HDMI (TMDS) signal into 949 to serialize it.

    Best Regards,

    Casey

  • Hellow Casey,

    Thank you for your contact.
I understand to use 949 for a simple evaluation.
    Thank you for your suggestions.

    Best Regards,
    Ishiwata
