PMP9256: EMC RC and CE

Part Number: PMP9256

hi,

Testing instruments:Spectrum analyzer-agilent E4402B, Resistance loader-IT8512

Input voltage:24V, Output 12V@2A

We tested the radiation at various locations on the PMP9256 board with a near-field probe and recorded the maximum value in maxhold mode. However, the test results of RE are not satisfactory.

Question 1:From the perspective of schematic design and PCB layout, is there a corresponding way to improve the above phenomenon?

Question 2:According to the BOM provided by TI, purchased devices are normal soldering devices. In addition, we found that the output voltage is 12V with an input voltage of 9V, the load capacity is less than 5A and the maximum is only 4A.Obviously, this is inconsistent with the indicators of the program.

  • Hi,

Question 1: This is an ordinary fixed frequency continuous-conduction mode flyback. There was no EMI characterization made for this design. It will likely require shielding, in particular the on transformer and switching traces.

.Question 2: I don't understand the significance of the statement about normal soldering devices. You are correct, the test report states that heatsink or airflow is required for 5A sustained operation at 9V input.

    Best Regards,
