TIDA-01501: Transient performance of the circuit

Hello,

the Simulation results using the TINA model of UCC28180 provided with the Project, show that the Input current and also the Output voltage reach a very high value at the very beginning of the Simulation( the Input current, the curent flowing in the supply reaches about -900 A, and Vout reaches about 1500 Volt). I would like to ask you please if this performance is related to the design of the compensator? How can one solve this to avoid Problems with the Hardware when implemented?

Thanks for your interest in our design.

For the PFC with UCC28180, it 's true that there is large input current at the startup but it wouldn't reach the -900A. I think you need to check your simulation model. if you want to avoid this problem, maybe you can change the feedback loop parameter to slow down the feedback loop. It can avoid the output overshoot at the startup.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your Response. Actually in the original model, the Input current reachs About -625 A. The Output voltage reaches the 1,9 kV.

However, may I ask you please which Parameters do you suggest to change in the compensation? I have tried almost all Elements in the compensation but there is no effect on the current or voltage.

You can slow down the current loop by increasing the cap of Icomp pin and slow down the voltage loop by increase the cap and resistor of Vcomp pin.

But I don't know if there is other issues about you simulation model because I don't see your simulation system.

Hallo Huixin,

Thank you very much again. I use the system uploaded on the Ti Website. This is the link to it: http://www.ti.com/product/UCC28180/toolssoftware

There exists a table with 3 models PSPICE, TINA Ref Design and TINA Transient SPICE Model

I have used the second model TINA Ref Design that Ends with .tsc

However for the third file UCC28180 TINA-TI Transient Spice Model is a .zip file that includes three files UCC28180_TRANS.LIB , UCC28180_TRANS.TLD and UCC28180_TRANS.TSM. I couldn't get how to open it with TINA. If you could decalre it please it would be great.

I didn't use this simulation model so I don't know how to open it.

You can open a new E2E only with the tag of UCC28180 and product line engineer will help you with this.

If you have more question about TIDA-01501, please let me know.

Thank you very much. OK I open a new tag then.

But generally if I buy the same Elements in BOM of TIDA-01501 and assemble the PCB, will be there any possible transients? Or are the values in the BOM already Show good transient Performance?

I think the transient performance is good because our LLC controller uses HHC control method.

Hi,

That seems fine. it Looks the load at the very end stage will not be affected by such transients then. Hopefully the llc stage will Show some damping effect on the Input current transient. This would be clear after simulating.
