TIDA-010056: ambient temperature range of the design

I have a question about Operating Ambient. I guess it is limited to +55C because the design does not have any heatsink. And if we add heatsink it will go to +85C. Correct? Why is it limited to -20C? Which part limits the temperature on the low side? Our product has to work from -40 to 85C.

Hi, Viktorija,

We cannot guarantee that it would work with heatsink at +85C. It would depend on the operation current and Rth of heatsink. The consideration points are your system design such like the size of heatsink, the airflow of heatsink, operation current (RMS) and so on. For TI's sockets in the design, they all operate at -40C. But usually, we would consider the capacitor's drop at low temperature. If you really need work at -40C, you should consider the changing of capacitors.

Hi, Alex,

Officially, TI provides the pdf version BOM. But you can download the full CAD file from internet. With the altium designer schematic file, you can generate the BOM spreadsheet by yourself.
