TIDA-010042: Similar design for different battery chemistry

Dear Support,

It's my understanding that this design is intended for Lead-Acid battery.

I'm interested in a similar solution to drive different battery chemistry in combination with BQ78350/BQ769x0.

Do you you have any concept like this to look at?

    While this design was made for Lead-Acid battery, you can adapt it for Li-ion or Li-Po batteries by changing the code. The BQ78350-R1 and BQ769x0 devices are part of the battery pack, and hence do not interfere with the operation of the charger circuit. The CV and CC levels should be modified in the code to suit the battery chemistry and capacity. Basically, the software will become simpler - need only the CC and CV levels to be set. Additional features like pre-charge etc. will be implemented by the pack AFE and controller.

    I am not aware of any reference designs demonstrating this operation though.
