Hi Sir,
Is it possible use the LM5116 IC in Master slave configuration as shown in PMP7282 neglecting the current sensing.
1. Using LM5116 in voltage mode by shorting the CG and CGS pin (12th and 13th pin)?
2. How the functionality will get affected in terms of current sharing, If I dont use the current sense feature?
Thanks and Regards,
Nesh
Hello Nesh,

Hi Nesh,
My understanding is that it is required to provide some current sense information for the LM5116 emulated current-mode control architecture. This is especially true in a two-phase implementation where the equalized COMP voltages provide the command for the current loops to maintain acceptable current sharing.
If Vin-max < 65V, another alternative here is the LM5143-Q1 current-mode controller as this provides automatic multi-phase current sharing without external supporting components (e.g. for 180 degree phase shifting or driving COMP of the slave).

Tim
